Dae Bogan Confirmed To Teach ‘Music Publishing & Copyright Administration’ Workshop At The Independent Music Conference In October – Scholarships Available For Attendance

I am excited to return to this year’s Independent Music Conference to teach a basics workshop on Music Publishing & Copyright Administration on Saturday, October 25th. Time TBD. This workshop will explore basic music publishing and copyright administration from the perspective of a DIY independent artist. Attendees will gain a better understanding about self-publishing in the Internet age with key takeaways including resources for music placement, music licensing, and royalty collection around the world. Scholarships are now available to attend the Independent Music Conference taking place October 22th – 26th in Los Angeles. Panelist Spotlight: Jeremy Gruber is the Vice President of Digital Marketing & Strategy at the leading independent record label, Concord Music Group.  He leads digital, social media, CRM and direct to consumer strategies for company’s diverse portfolio of labels.  His team works with legacy artists including Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Gregg Allman, legendary Jazz including Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Dave Brubeck as well as newer acts including Seether, Spoon, St. Vincent and Little Dragon.  Prior to working at Concord, Jeremy ran digital marketing at 10th Street Entertainment and Eleven Seven Music working with marquis rock acts like Mötley Crüe, Buckcherry and Papa Roach.

I will be teaching a “Music Copyrights & Publishing” workshop at the Independent Music Conference. This workshop will cover music copyrights and publishing basics. Topics will include rights granted to music copyright owners, protection and enforcement, public domain vs. creative commons, public performance vs. digital performance, and much more.

Dae Bogan Joins Music Business Panel At The 4th Annual Western Awareness Conference

Dae Bogan will be a guest panelist on the “Music Business & Networking” panel at The 4th Annual Western Awareness Conference taking place at Los Angeles Convention Center on Saturday, Sept. 28th and Sunday, Sept. 29th.

The Western Awareness Conference remains the largest educational urban music convention on the west coast. In its first year (2010) WAC attracted just over 2500 artists, producers, DJs, executives and attendees as a one day event. This number would grow to 5,000 attendees by its third year as a one day event. This year even more artists, labels executives and entertainment lawyers have already been confirmed.  Read More…

The Midi Mafia Bio:

Consisting of Brooklyn native Bruce Waynne and Canadian transplant Dirty Swift, this unlikely production duo shot to prominence during the summer of 2003 as their megasmash single “21 Questions” by 50 Cent was getting radio spins across the country. Sitting on top of the Billboard charts for weeks on end with their first placement as a duo offered Bruce and Swift a unique perspective on the benefits of teamwork and also validated their individual struggles in the cutthroat world of music and entertainment. Prior to having met inside a tiny attic studio in a Brooklyn neighborhood while working with the same artist, former indie rapper Bruce Waynne and ex-Canadian Champion DJ Dirty Swift were on seemingly parallel paths to success but both looking for the missing ingredient that would become their tipping point.
